3 Phases of Apprenticeship

Step 1: Deep Observation (the Passive Mode). Your main objective when entering a new work or environment is to observe and know everything about it, not to get attention or shine. Observe the rules, standards, and procedures. and importantly the unwritten rules. Observe who is in power, and things you should avoid. Stay passive in the background, and drop any preconceptions you have about this new work or environment. Don't try to change the culture or challenge anyone or anything. After months until you have reached mastery then you can change the rules. 


Step 2: Skill Acquisition (the Practice Mode). Determine the skills that you need to master and reduce them to simple and essential practical skills that you can practice. Implement the "greatest system ever invented for the training of skills- the apprenticeship system of the Middle Ages."  Learn the skill by watching your trainer or mentor and imitate them very closely with "endless repetition and hands-on-work, with very little verbal instruction." And make a commitment to learn the skill for 7 years and pass a master test or produce a master work. Your main objective is to learn one skill to mastering and "that serves as a foundation for acquiring others." Never try to learn mulitiple skills at a time. With practice the skill becomes more easier and interesting. However understand that the beginning of learing a skill can be tedious because it is hard. As you progress boredom is an issue of the pass. To reach a level of master you need 10,000 hours (7 to 10 years).

6 Steps to create your definite chief purpose.

 Step 1: Fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. It is not sufficient to say “I want plenty of money.” Be definite as to the amount.

Step 2: Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire.

Step 3: Establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire.

Step 4: Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire, and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.

Step 5: Write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money you intend to acquire, name the time limit for its acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly, the plan through which you intend to accumulate it.

Step 6: Read your statement out loud, twice daily, once just before retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning. As you read — see and feel and believe yourself already in possession of the money.
